Iran criticizes US decision to send cluster bombs to Ukraine

In a tweet, Kanaani said that the US move is "yet another example of America's destabilizing actions and exports of arms that indiscriminately contribute to more killings and destruction."

Cluster bombs are munitions that release dozens or even hundreds of smaller bomblets over a wide area. These bomblets can often fail to explode on impact, leaving them as deadly landmines that can continue to kill and injure people for years after a conflict has ended.

The use of cluster bombs is banned by a number of international conventions, but the US is not a party to any of these agreements. The US has argued that it needs to use cluster bombs in some cases, such as in Afghanistan, where they have been used to target Taliban fighters who hide in civilian areas.

However, critics of cluster bombs argue that they are indiscriminate weapons that pose a serious danger to civilians. They also point out that the US has other, more precise weapons that it could use in Ukraine, such as precision-guided missiles. (ILKHA)
