"Turkiye has included the 'East Turkestan Islamic Movement' on its terrorist list"

Speaking at a press conference held jointly with Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, who visited China, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that “Turkiye has included the ‘East Turkestan Islamic Movement' on its terrorist list”.

Wang Yi stated that the Chinese-Turkish Foreign Ministers Meeting of the Consultation Mechanism Second Meeting had agreed on some issues with Çavuşoğlu. Also stated that the relations between China-Turkiye strategic cooperation with Çavuşoğlu had been agreed upon by the leaders of the two countries to advance in the light of an opinion.

Saying that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met four times in the last two years, Wang emphasized that the two leaders have reached a consensus on important issues for the healthy development of bilateral relations and put forward a strategic plan for the future of bilateral relations.

Regarding this issue, Wang said, “The two sides should comprehensively implement this consensus and accelerate the achievement of more results in various fields of cooperation.”

Wang Yi, underlining that consensus on bilateral cooperation between China and Turkiye on the basis of cooperation and common principles of interest has been reached.

“Strong cooperation and strong complementarity exist between the two emerging economies of China and Turkiye. The two parties should resolve concrete problems in bilateral cooperation in this atmosphere and they should accelerate cooperation in the Belt and Road and Middle Corridor projects.”

Wang said that they had reached a consensus on the “deepening of the fight terrorism and the safeguarding of security together” after the meeting with Çavuşoğlu, emphasizing “cooperation in the fight terrorism” and said:

“The deepening of the fight terrorism and the co-protection of security together are the most basic content of deepening mutual strategic confidence between the two countries as well as the main interests of China and Turkiye. China firmly supports efforts made by Turkiye to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability. Çavuşoğlu stressed that China's security is Turkiye's security and that Turkiye will not allow any negative activity against China in its territory, saying that Turkiye has included the ‘East Turkestan Islamic Movement’ on its terrorist list.”

Wang Yi also stated that they agreed on resolving the focus problems politically and insisting on the maintenance of regional peace and stability.

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said that Turkiye is one of the countries that gives the greatest support to the single Chinese policy and said, “We regard the security of China as our own security. We do not allow any negative activity against China in our country or our region.” (ILKHA)
