"We want unfinished projects in Nurs village to be completed"

The residents of Nurs village of Hizan, where Said-i Nursi was born, want their peasants to be evaluated within the scope of religious tourism and that the projects that have not started and finished so far should be finished.

People of the village, stated that many projects were financed by the Eastern Anatolia Development Agency [DAKA] in the previous years but those project did not put into effect. Villagers are waiting for the support of the authorities for the development of their village.

Said Okur, saying that thousands of local and foreign tourists visit their village every year and that their village should be improved, “This is a village where Bediüzzaman was born. The guests come from everywhere. Many projects have been done for this village but they did not out into practice. The river improvement project was done but it left unfinished.”

“We want the authorities to care of our village”

Indicating that the village of Nurs, with the help of Bediuzzaman, was the forefront of religious tourism, Seyda Okur said that many of the project were left unfinished.

“Thanks to Bediuzzaman, the village of Nurs is a pioneer in faith tourism. People come here from domestic and abroad. Many projects those supposed to be completed remain unfinished.”

“’You are Kurds is that why?’ ask visitors”

“The village of Nurs needs to be serviced, the services are delayed or not done. We are expecting these services from officials for belief tourism. This is a front face. People from many different countries come here. Visitors are amazed when they come here from places like Isparta, Barla where the Bediüzzaman lived. They even say to us, ‘those places we came from are done very beautiful. Why are not they doing same here? You are Kurds is that why they are not serving same here?’ they ask. We tell them there is no such thing.” (ILKHA)
