The people of Taşkuyu (Birik) village, who lives in the tents that are still settled between the pile of debris 4 months after the earthquake that took place in Samsat (Semsat) district of Adıyaman (Semsur), is waiting for help from the authorities.

The people in Taşkuyu village, which suffered the greatest damage in the earthquake of 5.5 magnitude on March 2, still waiting for their problems to be relieved.

The village, which almost all the houses were demolished or damaged, has turned into a rubble. While village mosques are damaged, they are praying in tents, and education is given in tents because of damage to the school.

The villagers, who try to stay alive in the tents which built in the rubble heaps, reproached to the authorities those came in the first days when they come to the area and said that authorities have forgotten themselves.

With the beginning of the month of Ramadan, the villagers, who stated that their grievances have increased even more, expect the authorities to relief the grievances they are experiencing as soon as possible.

Mehmet Avcı, who stated that they expect to be treated like other provinces as well, said, “Children are given education in the tent because of the earthquake. This is also a problem. The education in the tent is not like school. I especially speak to the president. Those victimizations should be seen. At least a school can be built for the next year.”

“They should save these people from this victimization”

Ismail Avcı, who stated that the victimization that started with the beginning of the month of Ramadan was further increased, said: “The weather is already hot. We cannot going out, we cannot entering the tent. Just a few tress’ shadow that we can rest under them. We are a very disadvantaged in Ramadan.”

Bedir Ozak, who told that they had to live in tents for about 4 months, claimed that no authority had taken any steps towards removing this victim other than the damage detection and the demolition of some houses after the earthquake.

“They left us alone after destroyed houses”

"In four or five days they brought the digger and destroys the houses, and then they left us,” said Yusuf Dağtaş, another resident in the village and added that, “We want from authorities firstly to remove the debris, then we want containers to arrival and construct houses for us.
