Islamophobia and xenophobia are becoming more and more dangerous in the Western world. Attacks against Muslims and immigrants, and most importantly, statements made by Western leaders towards refugees take place in their own societies also to be cruel.

Social experiments conducted by two researchers in England revealed how widespread Islamic hostility in Western societies.

The results of research shows the point where the anti-Muslims come

Dr. Irene Zempi, Researcher and Lecturer in Criminology at Nottingham Trent University, interviewed with 60 people individually and with 20 groups individually to reveal the extent of Islamophobic attacks and the challenges they experienced in daily life. The results reveal the dimensions of the Muslim and foreign antagonism.

In order to understand what it means to be a Muslim, Irene said that some of the participants said "you should dress like a Muslim", so she did and went into her search, and after dressed according to Islam, she experienced reactions in the form of naming, profanity, humiliating attitudes and even threats of physical assault.

Muslim women are seen as terrorists

In her social experiment, Irene stated that attacks were clear signs of hate crime against Muslims, remarked that Western society saw Muslim women as "suicide bombers, terrorists and security threats."

Attack witnesses are acting insensitive

Irene, adding that she also experienced in very bad inferiority bullying, pointed out that this situation went to the unbearable point for Muslim women. Irene also regarded those who witnessed verbal and actual annoyance and assault acting as insensitive to what is happening as the gravest side of the incident.

European officials ignore the danger

The researchers draw attention to the fact that the Western states, which are trying to protect their borders on discrimination and enmity, ignore consciously the future great danger that they know the problems of Muslims are experiencing but do not take the necessary precautions to give a message to the refugees come from the geographical region and the arid and unstable regions of Africa.

Muslim women are harassed because they are veiled

Indicating that they are doing these researches based on the fact that the Muslims are upset by the increase of abuse and harassment incidents they have experienced, Irene said, "Now as a Muslim woman who goes to work on the same road every day, she can be harassed because of her outer appearance and her life can be poisoned. Because their outward appearance presents them with a clear identity, which makes them the victims of the vast majority of the attacks."

Bearded Muslims also target the attacks

Imran Awan, an academics and researcher from the Birmingham City University, said that his friends told him that, “Look Imran, you don’t dress as a Muslim, you simply don’t know how it feels like " then he grew a beard and wore the jubba and Islamic cap as part of his daily routine in Birmingham.

"Throw them out of this country"

Also as a result of being a Pakistani, Imran has been attacked many times, but as a result of this research, he stated that there has been an increase in attacks, intimidation, threats, swearing and name-calling. One day, Imran passed by two teenage girls, heard that "throw them away from this country".

The attackers increased by 300 percent in one year

Measuring Anti-Muslim Attacks (MAMA), which investigates the dimensions of anti-Muslim hatred that began to operate in the UK on February 21, 2012, draws attention to the increase in verbal and actual attacks against Muslims in its report published in 2015.

It the report they stated that the number of "offline" events rose from 146 to 437 in March 2014 (from a period of 12 months) until March 2015, which increased 300 percent.

In the report it also said that ‘Offline’ incidents happened in-person between a victim (or property) and a perpetrator. Incidents hotspots of anti-Muslim hate occur when Muslims use public and private transport networks, walk in public spaces of cities, and where they do their shopping.

Muslim women are mostly the ones who are attacked and verbal abuse, mostly males who are insulting them. This means that the largest proportion of incidents involves Muslim women, usually wearing Islamic clothing – be it the hijab, abaya or niqab.  Verbal abuse from men often carries misogynistic, racist and Islamophobic overtones.

There are more verbal attacks

Of the ‘offline’ cases, 219 involved verbal abuse and 74 involved assault (including common assault, battery, as well as attempted and grievous bodily harm).

It appears that areas near arterial roads in metropolitan areas experience a relatively higher level of anti-Muslim hate crime. Similarly, 84 per cent of all incidents in London recorded by Tell MAMA and the MPS occurred within 200 meters of a bus stop and 48 per cent of all incidents occurred within 100 meters of a bus stop.

Attacks are also being made through social media

"A majority of cases reported to Tell MAMA in the online sphere concerned hate speech, harassment and bullying on Facebook and Twitter. Our analysis found that nativist, far-right language construed Muslims as violent rapists or terrorists and a cultural threat to Britain. Our data reveals that 45 per cent of perpetrators of online incidents are verifiably supportive of the far-right." said in the MAMA’s report.

In the report it said that Tell MAMA received 1,128 reports of anti-Muslim incidents from victims, witnesses and third party organizations which they have recorded 626 unique perpetrators.

It is reflected in the report that, 50 per cent of cases were abusive, 10 per cent were vandalism and criminal damage, 7.5 per cent threatened, 3 per cent hate speech, actual attacks 17 per cent and discrimination rate 7.5 per cent.

While Islam and foreign antagonism continue to increase in many countries of Europe, especially the United States, some of Britain's leading newspapers give headlines that will fuel Islamic hostility.

Donald Trump who has elected as the new president of the US was also expressed blatantly his Muslim and foreign xenophobic also shows the current position of Islamophobia in the West. (ILKHA)
