Turkish services producer price index sees significant annual surge of 81.18%

The Turkish Statistical Institute announced on Wednesday that the Services Producer Price Index (S-PPI) recorded an 81.18% annual increase and a 3.59% monthly increase in December 2023.

Breaking down the annual changes, transportation and storage services saw a 72.21% increase, accommodation and food services surged by 90.54%, information and communication services rose by 83.25%, real estate services increased by 79.45%, professional, scientific, and technical services witnessed a 94.18% hike, and administrative and support services registered a 95.24% growth compared to the previous year.

On a monthly basis, transportation and storage services led the increase with a 5.48% rise, followed by accommodation and food services (2.49%), information and communication services (2.20%), real estate services (1.42%), professional, scientific, and technical services (2.46%), and administrative and support services (1.20%).

In terms of annual change compared to the general S-PPI, 12 subdivisions experienced lower rates, while 15 subdivisions reported higher rates. The lowest annual increases were observed in water transport services (38.31%), air transport services (45.69%), and telecommunications services (70.19%).

Conversely, the highest annual increases were noted in services to buildings and landscape (131.64%), motion picture, video, TV program production, sound recording, and music publishing (115.51%), and architectural and engineering services; technical testing, and analysis services (112.87%).

Comparatively, concerning the monthly change, 21 subdivisions reported lower rates, while 6 subdivisions indicated higher rates. The highest monthly decreases were observed in programming and broadcasting services (11.15%), accommodation services (0.81%), and employment services (0.26%).

On the other hand, the highest monthly increases were noted in warehousing and support services for transportation (22.47%), water transport services (16.33%), and telecommunications services (4.54%). (ILKHA) (ILKHA)
