Scottish Prime Minister Hamzah Yousef took to his official account to emphasize that the Scottish government would not halt or withdraw aid to UNRWA. Yousef stressed the crucial importance of ongoing funding to ensure that aid reaches the residents of Gaza.

Despite financial constraints, he expressed the government's dedication to making continuous efforts and urged others to persist in providing assistance to the people of Gaza.

Irish Foreign Minister Michael Martin echoed these sentiments, confirming Ireland's unwavering support for UNRWA's vital work in the Gaza Strip. Martin highlighted Ireland's contribution of 18 million euros to UNRWA in the previous year and affirmed their commitment to sustaining support for the UN agency in the current year.

Underlining UNRWA's role in providing life-saving assistance to 2.3 million people, Martin drew attention to the significant sacrifices made by the agency's employees, with over 100 of them losing their lives in the past four months.

The joint commitment from Scotland and Ireland comes amid the ongoing genocidal war waged by Israeli forces on the Gaza Strip since October 7, with the support of the US and Europe. The conflict has resulted in the tragic loss of 26,422 Palestinian lives, the injury of 65,87 individuals, and the forced displacement of over 85 percent of the Strip's population. (ILKHA)
