Mecca hit by powerful winds and heavy rain
Saudi Arabia was hit by powerful winds and storms on Tuesday, causing widespread damage across the country.

The winds were so strong that they lifted plastic barriers and posed a risk to pilgrims in the Grand Mosque of Mecca. Power poles also collapsed due to the wind and rain.
In Jeddah, videos of the storm showed power poles teetering precariously over roadways. Despite the inclement weather, devoted pilgrims continued their prayers in the Grand Mosque.
The Saudi Arabia National Meteorological Centre has warned of thunderstorms accompanied by vigorous winds in the next 24 hours. The areas affected include Medina, Mecca, Asir, Jazan, and Al Baha.
The authorities have urged people to take precautions and stay safe during the storms. (ILKHA)
