The case involves allegations of taking a bribe of land, commonly known as the Al-Qadir Trust case.

Khan's arrest led to violent protests, including the burning of a state broadcaster building and the deployment of the army.

The Supreme Court ruled Khan's arrest illegal and ordered him to be produced before the Islamabad High Court for reconsideration.

The IHC granted him two-week protective bail and prohibited authorities from arresting him until May 17 in any case registered against his party after May 9, the day he was arrested.

“The Islamabad High Court has given a two-week bail and also ordered the (anti-graft body) not to arrest Imran Khan during this period,” Khan’s lawyer Faisal Chaudhry told reporters.

In response to his arrest by paramilitary Rangers officials, Khan expressed: “So now the army abducts me. Where was the presence of the police? Where was the rule of law? It appears as if we are living in a state of chaos, as if martial law has been enforced.” (ILKHA)
