The explosion happened at a security checkpoint while the capital is hosting the election of another round of parliamentary seats today.

Eyewitnesses said that the explosion took place just a few meters away from the entrance gate of the presidential palace.

Claiming the responsibility for today's explosion, the Al Shabaab group said that they had killed six electoral delegates and three police officers escorting them in the attack. (ILKHA)
