Following the Presidential Cabinet meeting, the Presidential Spokesman Ibrahim Kalın made explanations on the agenda, especially related to the recent attack on Idlib, stated attacks will have politic and diplomatic consequences.

Speaking about the attacks on Idlib, Kalın said, "We sadly see that several attacks beginning from the southern ends of Idlib have still been continuing over the past few days. As a matter of fact, as Mr. President stressed in his commentary published in a U.S. newspaper today, Turkiye's efforts alone are never sufficient for this issue, the international community should also assume responsibility, but should do it really sincerely and meticulously."

Stating that Idlib attacks will not only result in a humanitarian disaster, Kalın added it will also have very significant political and diplomatic consequences.

"An attack on Idlib will, above all, dynamite the ongoing political processes, lead to a serious confidence crisis and cause hundreds of thousands of people to move toward and to migrate Turkiye again. A new migrant flow, which will include tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people, to Turkiye will introduce other complications," he said. Kalın noted that its repercussions will not be limited to Turkiye alone, it will spill over into Europe and other countries.

"Therefore, what we expect during this process from all parties, all stakeholders here is that they -in the upcoming period- definitely adopt an attitude in which they will offer effective contributions and agree on a political solution that will eliminate all these risks for Idlib. We, as Turkiye, will continue to our works on this issue, but, as I have said, leaving this burden on Turkiye's shoulders alone is neither a fair nor a conscientious approach." (ILKHA)
