President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the Conquest of Anatolia - Manzikert 1071 Ceremony held to mark the 947^th anniversary of the Victory of Manzikert [Malazgirt].

Pointing out that Turkiye is not a country that is only composed of its own borders or its own citizens, President Erdoğan stressed that Turkiye, just like the tip of an iceberg, shoulders the responsibilities of a huge civilization, history, and humanity behind itself. 

Commencing his speech by congratulating the 947^th anniversary of the Victory of Manzikert, President Erdoğan said, "I once again wish that this blessed victory will lead to auspicious outcomes for our people and for all our brothers and sisters all across our region.

"I offer my gratitude to Sultan Alparslan and all heroes within his army, who left us this beautiful country as our homeland, as well as many martyrs and veterans that followed the same path for ages."

"We not only achieved victory in Manzikert"

Highlighting that they have declared the area in which the Battle of Manzikert took place as a national park, President Erdoğan continued as follows: "We not only achieved victory in Manzikert but also declared the entire world what kind of a nation we are. Just as we became such a nation that turned Manzikert into victory, we also overcame the Crusades, the Mongolian invasions and all the attacks that we came under from all quarters with the same feeling."

"If we cannot keep the spirit of Manzikert alive, we lose our future together with our past, said President Erdoğan and added,  "Therefore, when you look at this plain that we have declared as a national park from now on, you should not see stones and soil but the beating heart of our civilization."

President Erdoğan further noted, "Since we started to deal with the problems of our country and of the world, we have felt this responsibility on our shoulders. Since we decided to realize our ideals through politics, we have acted with the awareness of this responsibility. And, I expect you to act in the same way in whatever field you work, and in whatever platform and at whatever level you carry on your businesses." (ILKHA)
