Baghdad takes over oil exports to Ceyhan from the Kurdistan Region!

Following the independence referendum organized by Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on September 25, there is a new development while the tension between Erbil and the central government in Baghdad continued.

Iraq's State Oil Marketing Company (SOMO) Director General Alaa Yasiri stated that the Central Government wants to undertake oil exports from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The process of exporting oil from Kurdistan to the port of Ceyhan was asked Ankara for permission to be given to the Iraqi Central Government said Yasiri added that negotiations continue on this issue.

It is stated that the amount of oil that reaches Ceyhan through the operation pipeline is about 530 thousand barrels per day by mid-October, approximately half of this amount is extracted from oil fields in Iraqi Kurdistan Region and the rest is from Kirkuk, which was from stateless regions.
