The announcement was made after the meeting of the National Security Council [NSC], which was held in the Presidency Complex, under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The meeting, which started at 13.40, took approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes and after the meeting, the following statement was made:

"In the fight against all terrorist organizations, especially against PKK/PYD-YPG and DAESH, the state of emergency implemented in Turkiye has been evaluated and the proposal for the extension of the state of emergency was decided to ensure the continuity of our democracy, the rule of law principle and the protection of the rights and freedoms of our citizens.

The closure of Turkiye's airspace on KRG and the Ibrahim Halil border crossing process to the takeover by Iraqi government were recommended to government.

"The steps taken by the Central Iraqi Government to establish constitutional sovereignty in the whole country and especially in Kirkuk have been assessed and the importance we attach to the preservation of Iraqi political unity and territorial integrity is once again emphasized," said in NCS statement. (ILKHA)
