In Bingöl, the whirlwind is influenced in the center of Sudüğünü village at the Esenler hamlet which damaged houses and barns in large scale. It was seen that many poplar and fruit trees were fallen where 2 people injured because of the wind.

The whirlwind which was effective yesterday afternoon with hail fail, damaged houses and animal shelters in large scale in Esenler hamlet in Bingöl Söğütlü. Citizens who live in the hamlet are waiting for help from the authorities where the electricity is cut off because the electric poles were downed.

ILKHA correspondent, who worked in the area of the whirlwind, came to the hamlet as soon as after the wild disaster of the villagers.

“Everything happened suddenly”

Ahmet Nebi, one of the residents of the hamlet who told about those horrible moments they lived in, said, “I was at the door when the wind came in, I tried to get in. We were three people. The wind took us with the roof. We were under the roof. We haven’t seen anything else. Everything happened suddenly. 90 percent of the roof of the houses and barns in the village have flew in. I do not know how much damage there is in the houses, but the damage is great. We have two wounded and I am the one.”

“A mass whirlwind happened as soon as I arrived to the village”

Abdullah Bajormuş, who works as an administrative staff at Bingöl University and who is in the village during the wind, said, “I was in visit to the village and a big wind took place about 5 minutes after I arrived. My private car was damaged. The roofs of village school, houses and barns were flown. It is a disaster, there is nothing to do, and the authorities must come and identify the damage and losses.”

“I've never seen anything like this before”

Niyazi Baralay, resident of the village also said that everything was an instant. Baralay said that the roofs of his house and barn were flown, “What we had in the roof floor are all gone because the roof was gone. There were animals in the barn, some animals were injured. I have not seen anything like this until now.”

Ahmet Nebi and Abdurrahman Barsbay were taken to the Bingöl State Hospital for treatment by the health teams sent to the scene. (ILKHA)
