We neither know Allah nor Mohammed said PYD who has beaten Kurdish journalist

Rudaw reporter Rengin Shero who went to Syrian Kurdistan to visit her family, has been incurred verbal and physical by PYD. After Shero said “May Allah not leave my rights to your side” to PYD members, PYD member replied as “We don’t know neither Allah nor Mohammed” by attacking on the sacred of Islam.

According to the received information, Rudaw reporter Rengin Shero tried to get across from South Kurdistan through Semalka Border Gate into Syrian Kurdistan yesterday around 12.00 o’clock in order to visit her family.  

After her proceeding completed Shero was greeted by her father. During to get in the minibus, PYD which is the Syrian version of PKK didn’t let Shero and her father to get across.

They tore my clothes, injured my hand

Shero expressed in tears what she has experienced, she said she is pregnant still she has been attacked, “After all my process has done, 4 people came to me, 2 of them were women, ‘You can’t get in Rojava. Your place is not here.’ I was shocked when they told me this and I said that I will not go back. Then they started swearing at me. Those 2 women started tugged me. The thing that I will not forget is the tears of my 62 years old father. My father also asked me to go back. They teared my clothes. I got in the car, there were 4 Asayish soldiers said to me, ‘you are a fan of Erdoğan. Go, Turkiye should welcomed you.’ They took my mobile phone. They injured my hand.”

Shero said that she could not withstand the pressure and attacks so she had to get off the car, she tried to express her victimization to people in there but no one raised their voice against them.

They told me that “We neither know Allah nor Mohammed”

Shero remarked that she reproached against what PYD has done she said “May Allah will not leave my right in your side”, then PYD members replied “We neither know Allah nor Mohammed”.

She said that they prevented to her to go Rojava and she was sent back to South Kurdistan via a boat.

Rudaw Media Network has condemned the attack

Rudaw Media Network announced that they condemn the attack.

In the statement it drew attention that Rengin Shero does not deserve to be prevented from visiting her hometown and her family and being attacked as a journalist, as a pregnant woman and as a woman from Rojava. It is said in the statement, “This is not the first time the journalists from Rudaw Media Network in Western Kurdistan have faced violence and humiliation.”

It is continued in the statement, “Rudaw Media Network calls on Kurdistan and international organizations who work on protecting human rights, the rights of journalists, freedom of expression and the rights of women and children to raise their concerns against this violation and violence and to put pressure on the officials in the Rojava cantons to put a limit on the harassment and violence journalists face in Rojava.” (ILKHA)
