According to local sources, police forces physically assaulted Sheikh Jarrah residents, solidarity activists, and journalists, and ransacked a house in the neighborhood.

The events started with a horde of settlers behaving provocatively in the central area of the neighborhood, where they raised zionist flags, made noises, and played music and songs over loudspeakers to confuse local youths as they were performing the Maghrib prayer.

The settlers also attacked Palestinians and activists as they gathered around fast-breaking tables in Sheikh Jarrah as part of the protest sit-in organized in solidarity with local families threatened with displacement.

Eyewitnesses said that settlers attacked the fasting people with pepper spray during the sunset call to prayer when Jerusalemites started to break their fast.

They added that local youths in the place responded to the settlers’ attack and clashed with them before police forces showed up and helped the settlers.

Video footage circulated by journalists on the internet showed extremist settlers starting to attack the fasting people in the area, which provoked clashes with them.

Soon later, police forces stormed the house of the al-Kurd family, one of the Sheikh Jarrah families at imminent risk of displacement, wreaked havoc on its furniture, and assaulted the family and other local residents.

The police forces also arrested several local residents and participants in the protest sit-in in the neighborhood.

Meanwhile, the zionist occupation police closed all the entrances to Sheikh Jarrah to prevent more solidarity activists and Jerusalemites from flocking to Sheikh Jarrah. (ILKHA)
