Yemeni forces attack US cargo ship in Red Sea
In a tit-for-tat escalation, Yemeni forces launched a missile attack on a US military cargo ship in the Red Sea on Tuesday, accusing the United States and its allies of fueling the conflict in Gaza and Yemen.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, declared the attack a targeted response to the "israeli occupation's aggression against civilians" in Gaza and ongoing US-UK airstrikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen. He further warned that any future assaults on Yemen would be met with "inevitable" retaliation.
"The Yemeni Armed Forces confirm their continued efforts to prevent Israeli ships, or ships heading to the ports of occupied Palestine until the aggression stops and the siege on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip is lifted," Saree emphasized.
The targeted vessel, the Ocean Jazz, reportedly sustained no damage, though the incident marks a significant escalation in tensions between Yemen and the US-led coalition supporting the Saudi-backed government. (ILKHA)
