The talks, which took place on Saturday, focused on urgent efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, increasing humanitarian aid, securing the release of hostages and exploring a two-state solution for lasting peace.

The meeting takes place against a backdrop of ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza. Israel has launched a series of air and ground attacks on Gaza following a cross-border operation by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, which the Israeli government claims has resulted in the deaths of 1,200 people.

According to Palestinian health officials, the toll on the Palestinian side has been severe, with at least 24,927 reported deaths, mostly women and children, and 62,388 injured since the start of the Israeli genocide.

The diplomatic engagement between Türkiye and Hamas signals a proactive approach to the crisis, with an emphasis on finding a peaceful solution through diplomatic means. Discussions covered key issues such as the immediate cessation of hostilities, the provision of humanitarian assistance to the affected population and broader efforts to achieve a two-state solution.

The situation in the region remains tense and international actors are closely monitoring developments as diplomatic efforts to stop the genocide unfold. (ILKHA)
