Born in 1939 in Suruç's Remêl village, Mullah Şükrü Yavuz was not only a hafiz (a person who knows the Quran by heart) but also a scholar, poet, and a polyglot, proficient in four languages.

Renowned for his Islamic activities, Mullah Şükrü had earned the favor and respect of the people through his dedication to Islamic studies.

Despite facing repeated threats from the PKK, Mullah Şükrü remained steadfast, refusing to compromise his beliefs or shy away from speaking the truth.

His commitment to spreading the message of Islam, coupled with his linguistic prowess, made him a target for those who sought to silence him.

The threats escalated, and the PKK, unable to tarnish his reputation through slander, resorted to a heinous act.

After the night prayer on September 28, 1993, Mullah Şükrü and his childhood friend Mullah Muhyeddin were lured out of their residence under the guise of a question, only to fall victim to a treacherous trap set by PKK members.

On the 30th anniversary of their martyrdom, the community came together to remember Mullah Şükrü and Mullah Muhyeddin with mercy and gratitude.

Despite the passage of time, their legacy as defenders of Islam and their unwavering commitment to truth and faith continue to inspire those who remember them fondly. (ILKHA)
