As of 8 a.m. local time on September 26, a total of 13,350 displaced individuals have made their way to Armenia from Nagorno-Karabakh, marking a significant relocation effort that started on Sunday.

The Armenian government has pledged to provide housing for these displaced citizens, many of whom have been temporarily accommodated in a humanitarian center established in the town of Kornidzor, situated on the border with Azerbaijan and approximately 150 kilometers away from Nagorno-Karabakh.

On Sunday, the authorities of the self-proclaimed republic of Nagorno-Karabakh announced that those who were displaced due to Azerbaijan's military operation last week could opt for relocation to Armenia.

These displaced individuals had been sheltered near the facilities of Russian peacekeepers who have been stationed in the region since the autumn of 2020.

The Information Center of the self-proclaimed republic has also indicated that other citizens wishing to leave Nagorno-Karabakh, particularly in light of Azerbaijan's expressed intent to reintegrate the region into its administrative system, will have the opportunity to do so following the transfer of these initially displaced individuals.
