Suicide car explosion targets lawmakers in central Somalia
At least two Somali federal lawmakers were injured in a suicide car bomb attack on Friday in the village of Laas Gacamey, Mudug region, central Somalia.
The lawmakers, Mohamed Dhabancad and Abdi Hassan Awale, were injured when the explosive-laden vehicle struck their residence during the early morning hours.
Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Karie, commonly known as Qoorqoor, and several other officials narrowly escaped the attack.
The exact number of casualties is unknown.
Somali forces and allied militias have withdrawn to Wisil town in response to the attack.
