HÜDA PAR MP criticizes Ministry of Health for excluding Kurdish from e-Prescription system

The system, which allows doctors to electronically prescribe medication to patients, currently supports five languages: Turkish, English, French, German, and Arabic.

Ramanlı said that it is wrong for the Ministry of Health to exclude Kurdish, which is spoken by millions of people in Turkey. He argued that the exclusion of Kurdish is a form of discrimination against the Kurdish community.

"Kurdish is one of the indigenous languages of this country," Ramanlı said. "It is ours, so we must protect Kurdish."

Ramanlı also called on the Ministry of Health to grant Kurdish an official status and to make it available in all public services. He said that this would help to eliminate marginalization and segregation of the Kurdish community.

The Ministry of Health has not yet responded to Ramanlı's criticism.

The precise count of Kurdish speakers in Türkiye remains uncertain due to the lack of official data collection on ethnicity and language.

However, estimates suggest that Kurdish is spoken by around 15 to 20 million individuals, constituting approximately 20-25% of the population.

The majority of Kurdish speakers are concentrated in the southeastern and eastern regions, often referred to as Kurdistan. (ILKHA)
