İbrahim Yumaklı, the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, has announced that the forward spread of the fire, which has devoured an expanse of 1500 hectares, has been effectively brought under control.

The conflagration originated within a wooded vicinity adjacent to Kayadere village, situated in the central region of Çanakkale. The incident unfolded at approximately 12:30 pm yesterday, and propelled by gusty winds, the flames swiftly expanded to engulf a substantial stretch of land.

A comprehensive response has been mounted to combat the blaze, with a dedicated team comprising 2,960 personnel, 8 aircraft, 28 helicopters, 240 ground vehicles, 77 water tankers, 445 additional vehicles, and a complement of construction machinery.

With residential areas teetering on the brink of danger, precautionary measures have been enacted. A total of 9 villages in close proximity have been evacuated to ensure the safety of local inhabitants.

Minister Yumaklı emphasized that the fire's rampant progression, which had initially laid claim to 1500 hectares, has been decisively contained. The collective efforts of firefighting personnel and strategic resources have played a pivotal role in curtailing the fire's advance and minimizing further damage.

As authorities continue to battle the blaze, the nation remains vigilant, hoping for a swift resolution to the crisis while applauding the dedication and hard work of the firefighting teams on the frontlines. (ILKHA)
