The meeting was called by the main opposition party, the Republican People's Party (CHP), in collaboration with other opposition parties.

The program will center on the contentious removal of trees in Mula's Milas district's Akbelen Forest to make space for the expansion of a mining complex.

Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş has officially summoned all Members of Parliament (MPs) to gather for this critical session. The opposition parties must ensure at least 200 MPs' presence to proceed with the General Assembly's proceedings.

This extraordinary meeting comes after the Parliament's recess, which began on July 15 and was expected to last until October 1.

It is worth noting that the CHP had previously called for another extraordinary meeting on July 25, to address the recent price hikes in the country.

This latest meeting adds to the mounting tensions between the ruling party and the opposition, highlighting the pressing issues facing Türkiye. (ILKHA)
