Thanks to a concerted effort involving aerial and ground operations, the fire in Semey Forest, located within the Abay province, is now under control, according to the official statement released by the ministry.

Despite the containment of the fire, authorities continue to work diligently to prevent any potential resurgence and further spread. Evacuated residents from the affected villages have received the green light to return to their homes, signaling a step towards recovery for the affected communities.

Tragically, the initial outbreak of the fire claimed the lives of 14 courageous forestry workers who were at the forefront of the firefighting operations. Their dedication and sacrifice in battling the flames will not be forgotten.

The magnitude of the fire was staggering, engulfing an expansive area spanning 60,000 hectares. Responding swiftly to the crisis, the Ministry of Defense deployed a formidable force consisting of 600 soldiers, 50 units of equipment, and seven helicopters near the settlements of Shulbinsk, Talitsa, Ozerki, Zhernovka, and Baryshevka. Aerial surveillance has been employed with the assistance of three unmanned aerial vehicles, providing crucial monitoring capabilities from above.

With an extensive workforce committed to the cause, the Ministry of Emergency Situations revealed that approximately 1,900 personnel and 360 pieces of specialized equipment are engaged in the ongoing firefighting efforts. A remarkable 4,486 tons of water have been discharged through a staggering 1,526 separate operations, underscoring the relentless determination to extinguish the flames.

Nevertheless, combating the fire has presented significant challenges due to prevailing high temperatures ranging from 27 to 32 degrees Celsius, exacerbated by strong winds. The volatile weather conditions have added complexity to the firefighting operations, necessitating heightened vigilance and adaptability.

As the forest fire is now contained, the focus will shift towards rehabilitation and recovery for the affected areas. Efforts to assess the damage and support the impacted communities will be crucial in the coming days and weeks.

The successful containment of the forest fire stands as a testament to the coordinated response and unwavering dedication of the emergency services, armed forces, and brave individuals who risked their lives to protect others and the natural environment. While the scars left behind will serve as a reminder of the devastation, the spirit of resilience and unity will guide the path to restoration. (ILKHA)
