Life expectancy at birth estimated at 77.7 years in Türkiye

"Life expectancy at birth", which is the average number of years that a newborn is expected to live having been exposed to current mortality risks, decreased to 77.7 years in 2019-2021 period while it was 78.3 years in 2018-2020 period.

Females lived 5.5 years longer than males

In Türkiye, life expectancy at birth for males, which was 75.6 years for males in 2018-2020 period, decreased to 75 years in 2019-2021 period. This value for females decreased from 81.1 to 80.5 in the same period. Females live longer than males in general and the difference between life expectancy at birth of females and males was 5.5 years.

Life expectancy at age 15 was 63.6 years

The average remaining life expectancy of the persons at the age of 15, the beginning of working age, was 63.6 years. While this life-span was 61 years for males, it was 66.4 years for females.

Life expectancy at age 30 was 49 years

In Türkiye, the average remaining life expectancy was 49 years for a person at age 30. While it was 46.5 years for males, it was 51.6 years for females. The difference between life expectancy of males and females at this age was 5.1 years.

Life expectancy at age 50 was 29.9 years

In Türkiye, the average remaining life expectancy was 29.9 years for a person at age 50. While it was 27.6 years for males, it was 32.3 years for females.

Life expectancy of females at age 65 was 3.5 years longer than that of males

According to the life tables data for 2019-2021 period, the average remaining life expectancy of a person at age 65 was calculated as 17.3 years. This life-span became 15.4 years for males and 18.9 years for females. In other words, at age 65, females are expected to live 3.5 years longer than males on average. (ILKHA)
