Biden announces intention to seek second term in 2024 presidential election
The United States President Biden has officially announced that he will seek a second term in the 2024 presidential election, after months of hints.
In a 3-minute video, Biden emphasized that the country is still in a battle for the soul of America and that the upcoming election will determine whether Americans will have more or fewer rights and freedoms in the years ahead.
“Every generation has a moment where they have had to stand up for democracy. To stand up for their fundamental freedoms. I believe this is ours. That’s why I’m running for reelection as President of the United States. Join us. Let’s finish the job,” Biden wrote on Twitter.
Despite being the oldest person to serve as president at 80 years old, Biden is unlikely to face a serious challenge for the Democratic nomination, as rank-and-file Democratic voters have started to support him as his intention to run became more apparent.
However, some Democrats have expressed concerns about his age and whether he is the best candidate to win the election. (ILKHA)
