Italy safely evacuates all its citizens from Sudan amid ongoing conflict
Foreign Minister and Deputy Premier Antonio Tajani announced on Monday that all Italians who wished to leave Sudan have been safely evacuated and will arrive in Italy late on Monday afternoon.
The evacuation process involved transferring the individuals to Djibouti and then flying them to Italy on an Air Force flight.
Tajani confirmed that the evacuees are all in good health. However, some emergency volunteers and missionaries have chosen to remain in Sudan despite the ongoing conflict.
The evacuation effort also included 31 foreigners, including nationals from Portugal, Australia, Greece, Britain, and Sweden.
The Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, expressed gratitude for the successful evacuation, noting that Italy ensured the safety of its citizens and did not leave anyone behind. (ILKHA)
