Sudan clashes kill 56, wound 595, Sudanese Doctors' Union says
Since the fighting began on Saturday, at least 56 civilians have been killed and 595 people have been wounded in Sudan, according to the Sudanese Doctors' Union.
On Sunday, the military launched air strikes on a base belonging to the government's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) near the capital city in an attempt to regain control of the country.
The RSF, which has an estimated 100,000 members, and the military have been vying for power as political factions work towards forming a transitional government after a military coup in 2021.
The sound of heavy artillery and gunfire was heard in several cities, including Khartoum, Omdurman, Bahri, and Port Sudan, local sources reported. (ILKHA)
