US calls for immediate end to violence in Sudan
Antony Blinken, the U.S. Secretary of State, expressed his concern about the rising violence between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, the main paramilitary group in the country, and called for an immediate end to the hostilities.
In a tweet, he also mentioned that the Embassy team in Khartoum was safe and accounted for.
Blinken urged all parties to cease the violence without delay and avoid further escalation or troop mobilization.
He also emphasized the importance of continuing the dialogue to resolve the outstanding issues.
Meanwhile, the Rapid Support Forces claimed that they had taken control of the presidential palace, the army chief's residence, and Khartoum international airport, indicating a potential coup attempt. (ILKHA)
