Turkish unemployment rate rises to 10.2 pct in November
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate realized as 10.2%, the Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Tuesday.
According to Household Labor Force Survey; the number of unemployed persons aged 15 years old and over increased by 23 thousand to 3 million 576 thousand persons in November 2022 compared to the previous month.
As the unemployment rate estimated 10.2% without any change compared to the previous month; it was estimated 8.8% for men and 12.9% for women.
The seasonally adjusted employment rate realized as 48.6%
The number of employed persons increased by 285 thousand to 31 million 574 thousand persons in November 2022 compared to the previous month. The employment rate occurred as 48.6% with 0.4 percentage point increase. In addition, this rate was 65.7% for men, and 31.7% for women.
The seasonally adjusted labor force participation rate realized as 54.1%
The number of persons in the labor force realized as 35 million 150 thousand persons with 308 thousand persons increase in November 2022 compared to the previous month. Labor force participation rate was 54.1% with 0.5 percentage point increase. Also ,this rate was 72.1% for men, it was 36.4% for women.
The seasonally adjusted youth unemployment rate was 17.8%
The youth unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group was 17.8% with 2.6 percentage point decrease compared to the previous month. While this rate was estimated 14.4% for men and 23.9% for women.
The seasonally and calendar-adjusted average weekly actual working hours was 44.4
Seasonally and calendar-adjusted average weekly actual working hours of persons at work during the reference period estimated 44.4 hours with 0.1 hours increase compared to the previous month in November 2022.
The seasonally adjusted composite measure of labor underutilization rate realized as 20.8%
In November 2022, the rate of composite measure of labor underutilization consisting of time-related underemployment, potential labor force and unemployment was 20.8% with 0.5 percentage point increase compared to the previous month. While combined rate of time-related underemployment and unemployment realized as 14.3%, combined rate of unemployment and potential labor force estimated as 16.9%. (ILKHA)
