Turkiye’s government deficit for 2021 down to 1.1 percent of GDP

The general government deficit was estimated as 79 billion 74 million TRY and the ratio of the general government deficit to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which was 4.6% previous year, decreased to 1.1% in 2021.

Local government sector gave surplus in 2021 whereas central government and social security funds sectors gave deficit. The general government consolidated gross debt stock to GDP ratio rose to 41.8% in 2021.

The share of general government total expenditures in GDP was 32.5% in 2021

Total income of general government increased to 2 trillion 279 billion 105 million TRY and the share of income in GDP rose to 31.4%. Total expenditures of general government reached 2 trillion 358 billion 179 million TRY and its ratio to GDP decreased to 32.5% in 2021. As a value, an increase was seen in all of the main expenditure and revenue items.

Total tax and social contribution receipts increased to 1 trillion 813 billion 784 million TRY in 2021

The share of taxes on production and imports in total fell to 45.3% in 2021 while it was 47.4% in 2020. The current taxes on income and wealth etc. rose to 27.2% while share of net social contributions fell to 27.2%. The share of capital taxes rose to 0.2%. (ILKHA)
