US approves sale of CH-47F Chinook helicopters to Egypt
The United States State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Egypt of CH-47F Chinook Helicopters and related equipment for an estimated cost of $2.6 billion.
“The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today,” Pentagon said in a statement.
Egypt has requested to buy twenty-three 23 CH-47F Chinook helicopters and related equipment, according to the statement.
“This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a Major Non-NATO Ally that continues to be an important strategic partner in the Middle East,” it claimed. (ILKHA)
