Palestine: Sheikh Sabri calls for marking Prophet’s Mawlid at Aqsa Mosque
Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, head of the Higher Islamic Council in Occupied Jerusalem, has called for marching en masse to the Aqsa Mosque next Tuesday to mark the Mawlid (birthday) of Prophet Muhammad.
“Muslims should take advantage of the holy prophetic Mawlid to stay at the Aqsa Mosque, perform prayers, attend religious gatherings and lessons, and listen to prophetic poems of praise,” Sheikh Sabri said in a statement on Sunday.
He urged the Muslim and Arab nations to intensify and pool their efforts to defend the Aqsa Mosque against the dangers threatening it and protect the holy sites and mortmain property in Palestine and Jerusalem.
He also called for confronting the global campaigns against Islam and spreading its great teachings and principles that are based on moderation, justice, dignity, mercy, tolerance and respect for people of other faiths. (ILKHA)
