28 killed, 40 injured in Pakistan bus crash
At least 28 people were killed and 40 others injured after a speeding bus carrying mostly laborers rammed into a truck on a highway in central Pakistan on Monday.
The bus carrying mostly workers traveling home for Eid Al Adha, the “Feast of Sacrifice”, rammed into a truck on a highway in eastern Punjab province, killing at least 28 people and injuring 40, Pakistani officials said.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where some of them remain in critical condition.
The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, according to local officials.
Deadly traffic accidents are common in Pakistan due to poor road infrastructure and disregard for traffic laws.
On average, more than 3,300 road accidents occur in Pakistan annually. (ILKHA)
