Bangladesh: At Least 26 killed in speedboat crash
At least 26 people were killed and several others went missing when an overcrowded speedboat collided with a vessel transporting sand on Monday in the Padma River in Bangladesh.
The speedboat carrying more than thirty passengers from the town of Mawa collided with the other vessel when it neared the main river station in the central rural town of Shibchar.
The search and rescue crew has so far found 26 dead bodies. The efforts to find the missing people are ongoing in the river.
Five people were rescued and transferred to a nearby hospital, Bangladeshi officials said. (ILKHA)
