Hamas rejects postponing Palestinian vote
Senior Hamas official and ex-head of Hamas Abroad Maher Salah said on Wednesday that the movement rejects any attempt to postpone the elections.
In a press release, Salah declared that some Palestinian, regional, and international parties fear that Hamas would win the elections.
He noted that the Palestinian factions’ insistence to hold the elections in Jerusalem must not lead to canceling the vote.
“How would the Palestinian people accept canceling the elections under the pretexts of Israeli restrictions in Jerusalem?” he questioned.
“The Palestinian people will find solutions to hold the elections in Jerusalem… and the Palestinian Authority should have led all the Palestinian factions to pressure the Israeli occupation not to intervene in the electoral process,” Salah added.
He concluded that Hamas has made many compromises and showed flexibility to push for the success of the Palestinian vote. (ILKHA)
