Turkey’s marketable lignite production decreases by 4.2%
Marketable production of lignite was 5 million 620 thousand 565 tonnes in December, the Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Friday.
Marketable production of lignite decreased by 4.2% in December compared to the previous month, by 16.7% compared to the same month of the previous year, and by 19.3% in the January-December period compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the statement.
Marketable production of hard coal was 106 thousand 126 tonnes in December
Marketable production of hard coal increased by 3.6% in December compared to the same month of the previous year. On the other hand, its production decreased by 0.5% compared to the previous month and by 11.3% in January- December period compared to the same period of the previous year.
Marketable production of coke derived from hard coal was 383 thousand 268 tonnes in December. Its production increased by 5.3% compared to the previous month and by 0.6% compared to the same month of the previous year. However, it decreased by 0.7% in January- December period compared to the same period of the previous year.
Imports of hard coal were 3 million 293 thousand 871 tonnes
Imports of hard coal increased by 7.4% in the January-December period compared to the same period of the previous year. On the other hand, its imports decreased by 13.1% in December compared to the previous month and by 10.3% compared to the same month of the previous year.
Imports of coke derived from hard coal increased by 2.1% in December compared to the previous month and by 2.2% in the January-December period compared to the same period of the previous year. However, its imports decreased by 41.2% compared to the same month of the previous year.
The highest ratio of production to deliveries was in lignite in the January-December period
The highest ratio of production to deliveries was in lignite by 102.5% in the January-December period. This ratio was 86.3% for coke derived from hard coal and 2.7% for hard coal.
Hard coal and lignite were delivered mostly to thermal power plants
Concerning the deliveries of solid fuels in December, hard coal was delivered with a percentage of 53.4% to thermal power plants, 12.2% to coking plants, and 14.6% to industry (except iron and steel industry). Additionally, 78.5% of lignite was delivered to thermal power plants and 12.7% to industry (except iron and steel industry). Lastly, 96.3% of coke derived from hard coal was delivered to the iron and steel industry. (ILKHA)
