20 killed in road accident in southern Algeria
20 people were killed and 11 others injured when a vehicle carrying migrants collapsed in Algeria’s southern Tamanrasset Province on Thursday.
The victims include a local and 19 migrants from sub-Saharan countries, according to a statement by the Civil Protection of Tamanrasset Province.
The accident occurred when the vehicle slipped and flipped over.
The injured were given first aid at the scene of the accident before being transferred to a hospital.
Tamanrasset, which is located in the deep southern region of Algeria near the country’s borders with Mali and Niger and has become a key transit route for illegal migrants from African countries. (ILKHA)
