Russia, China, Cuba elected to UN Human Rights Council
Russia, China and Cuba have been elected to the United Nations Human Rights Council for three years.

The election of 15 members to the 47-member Human Rights Council was nearly decided in advance with the exception of the Asia-Pacific contest because all the other regional groups had uncontested slates.
Having obtained the required majority and the largest number of votes, the following 15 states have elected members of UN Human Rights Council for three-year term of office beginning on 1 January 2021: Bolivia, China, Cuba, Russia, Ivory Coast, France, Gabon, Malawi, Mexico, Nepal, Pakistan, Senegal, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Northern Ireland and Uzbekistan.
The United Nations Human Rights Council is a United Nations body whose mission is to promote and protect human rights around the world.
The UNHRC has 47 members elected for staggered three-year terms on a regional group basis. The headquarters of UNHRC is in Geneva, Switzerland. (ILKHA)
