130 irregular migrants apprehended off the coast of western Turkey
Turkish Coast Guard has apprehended 130 irregular migrants and 2 human smugglers off the coast of the Urla district of Izmir province, Turkish Coast Guard Command said in statement.
Foreign nationals from different countries were trying to cross to Greek islands on a private boat, according to the statement.
Turkey has traditionally been a major transit port for irregular immigrants to enter the European countries.
According to the official reports, 454,662 irregular migrants held across the country in 2019. (ILKHA)
