Iran reports 226 new deaths from coronavirus in the past 24 hours
Iran has reported 266 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of infections to 16,569 in the country, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Thursday.
After 2,621 more people tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours, the number of confirmed cases has risen to 16,147 in the country.
There are at least 4,041 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 261,200 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 2,431,804 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 670,918 with 17,214,368 cases and more than 10,727,382 recoveries. (ILKHA)
