"It is a shame that the conquest of Istanbul is defined as an occupation"
Ali Muhyiddin al-Karadağı, Secretary General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, criticized the Egyptian Fatwa Institution, which described the conquest of Istanbul as an “Ottoman occupation”.
Karadağı stated that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) pointed to the conquest with this hadith: “Istanbul will definitely be conquered. What a beautiful commander who conquered it, what a beautiful army that conquered it.”
Stating that the institutions in Egypt are politicized, Karadağı said, “The definition of the conquest of Istanbul as an Ottoman occupation is a dangerous corruption and an embarrassment for the Egyptian Fatwa Institution.”
