Education expenditure increases by %21.6 in Turkey
In 2018, a total expenditure of 214 billion 637 million TL was made with an increase of 21.6% compared to 2017, Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to TurkStat, when evaluated according to educational levels, education expenditures increased at most in pre-primary education with 27.3% and upper secondary education with 24.3% in 2018 compared to the previous year.
"Expenditure on education as a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP) was 5.7% in 2017 and 5.8% in 2018," the statement said and adding that the 72.9% of education expenditure in Turkey in 2018 was spent by the public sources.
The share of education expenditure by households was 20.0%. (ILKHA)
