In recent attacks on Eastern Ghouta, which is located in a region close to Damascus, the capital city of Syria, more than a thousand people, including women and children lost their lives while thousands of people were injured.

Despite the 30-day cease-fire decision of the United Nations Security Council, the air strikes of the Syrian regime in Eastern Ghouta continued on Sunday. In addition to the air attacks, the conflicts around the East Ghouta also intensified. It was stated that the army tried to enter East Ghouta from the land.

Most volunteer health officials who work in the area have suggested that some wounded showed chlorine gas attack symptoms in the hospitals. It was stated that at least 20 people were received oxygen therapy. The Syrian American Medical Community has reported that people who were taken to hospitals from the region were showing chemical attack symptoms.

The U.N. Security Council demanded a 30-day ceasefire with the bill adopted on Saturday to allow humanitarian aid and evacuations to be made in Syria. However, the ceasefire is not included in structures such as DAESH, Nusra Front, Tahrir Ash-Sham operating in Syria. Eastern Ghouta and its surroundings are being attacked by the Syrian regime due to the fact that it is the last big region in the hands of the opponents near Damascus.

About 400,000 people live in East Ghouta, which has been subjected to bombardment for months. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres used the phrase "they live hell on earth" for the region. (ILKHA)
