Sheikh Said's brother's tomb expects visitors

Sheikh Said’s brother, Sheikh Abdurrahim, who revolted against the regime, is expecting visitors near the village of Batman-Bismil Highway Hasanpınar [Devreşiye] village.

Sheikh Abdurrahim’s tomb, located about 20 kilometers from Batman, is little known by the public. It is not known when and in what date the tomb of Sheikh Abdurrahim, who is near the roadside of Batman-Bismil Highway, was built.

It is reported that the body of Sheikh Abdurrahim, was found by a peasant due to the villager’s dream after he had been brutally martyred by regime soldiers at the time and buried in the place where is now.

Researcher-Writer Sadullah Aydın, who came to the tomb place, said that it is sad that known little by the public and very rare visits. Aydın stated that tomb of Islamic leaders should be visited Muslims.

Narrating the revolt process of Sheikh Said and his brother Sheikh Abdurrahim, Aydin said: “With the establishment of the Republic after the First World War, the Muslim people of Turkiye thought to escape from oppression and exploitation, but unfortunately the regime fell into a greater tyranny, exploitation and persecution. The regime ended up great persecution without making Turk and Kurd discrimination. Turks and Kurds scholars raised their heads, resisted, revolted against the persecution of regime. Sheikh Said and Bediüzzaman were among them. Sheikh Abdurrahim, who we are presently on the tomb at the moment, is also stood, raised his head against the oppression, exploitation, persecution of the regime.”

“Leaders were tried to be forgotten on the dark pages of history”

Aydın, who draws attention to the fact that the regime tries to make the scholars and the leaders be forgotten, said, “The regime has carried out a policy of annihilation of the Muslim Kurdish scholars and their leaders to make them forget their lives and their memories, so that the next generations will not walk on their path. That’s why, the great leaders were tried to be forgotten in the dark pages of history. The tombs of Bediuzzaman and Sheikh Said are not known now.”

“A scholar who participated in Islamic rising”

Describing Sheikh Abdurrahim's life of rising time and martyrdom, Aydın continued: “Sheikh Abdurrahim was an Islamic scholar who participated in the Islamic rising against the regime during the rising of Sheikh Said in 1925. He is a scholar participated in Islamic rising. Sheikh Abdurrahim and his 16 friends had been slaughtered between Silvan and Bismil in a field.
