The governorship has not allowed the open air activity planned to be organized on the occasion of the 1378th anniversary of the Diyarbakir's conquest. Sahabe-Der, the Association of Spreading, Sustaining, Science, Culture, Assistance and Solidarity of Prophet’s Companions, which planned to organize an event, said that they found the decision taken by the Governor's Office wrong and that they should return from this mistake.

Sahabe-Der Chairman Abdulmuttalip Yuva said, “In Diyarbekir, where the Grand Mosque is considered as the 5th Harem [temple mount] of the Islamic world, Sahabe-Der is in shock of not allowing the activity of commemoration of those Companions of Prophet which they have sacrificed their life on those land to spread the true path.”

“The justification based on emergency state is not an explanation to accept”

"In Diyarbekir where many companions commemoration celebration were held, we do not believe that there may be an excuse to explain the prohibition of open-air celebrations to be held this year. As Sahabe-Der, on the occasion of the 1378th anniversary of Diyarbekir's conquest, we have applied to the Provincial Governor for this year's open-air commemoration to be held on Saturday, May 27th, in Suleiman Mosque where 27 companions are also buried there. The activity we have planned is blocked by the Governor's reason that “the open area activity is not allowed”. The justification based on the emergency state is not an acceptance explanation.”

“The taken decision hurt Muslim people of Diyarbekir”

Not allowing the activity for simple reasons hurt the public conscience said Yuva and continued as follows:

"The fact that innumerable open air events were organized in our city in the recent year, the celebration of the anniversary of the conquest of Diyarbekir, the obstruction of the commemoration of those sacrificed their live for those lands hurt the public conscience.” (Emrah Deniz - ILKHA)
