Call for help from the Kurdistan Region

Hosheng Muhammad, General Director of the Common Crisis Management Center in the Kurdistan Region, called for urgent aid to international aid organizations, stating that major problems, especially water and electricity, were experienced in the explanations he made regarding the refugee camps.

Speaking to Rudaw, Hosheng Muhammad said, “There are water, electricity and cooling problems throughout the camps.”

“The Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Immigration responded positively to the water air conditioning for the camps, but they cannot work because there is no water or electricity,” Muhammad said.

“There are refugees in 47 of the 49 camps in Kurdistan," Muhammad said, problems not only in the camps around Mosul but also in the camps in the Kurdistan region. “We all have water and electricity problems. That is why we are in urgent need of international organizations.”

So far, more than 760 people have left the city on October 17, 2016, when Mosul operation began, while 188 thousands of them have settled in the Kurdistan Region. There are one million 800,000 immigrants and refugees throughout the Kurdistan Region. (ILKHA)
