Deputy Prime Minister and Government Spokesman Numan Kurtulmuş explained the sanctions against the Netherlands at the Council of Ministers meeting.

The Government Spokesman Numan Kurtulmuş, who was in office after the meeting of the Council of Ministers, explained that senior officials and planned meetings, ministerial and executive meetings, high-level official talks had been suspended and postponed for a while until the Dutch has somehow compensated for what they had done.

Kurtulmuş said, “Neither it is suited to human rights, nor suitable to democracy, or suited to Europe's common values. Unconventional attitude to our ministry and brutal and barbaric attitude of horses on our civilian citizens cannot be acceptable. We want to express once again that we do not accept this behavior.”

"The two countries will make an effort to keep their people from confrontation"

Saying that Turkey is not responsible for the crisis, Kurtulmuş added, “We have the determination to protect the right and honor of Turkiye. Whatever you say in the name of this tension, it is not a crisis that outbreak by Turkiye. Even Turkiye is not responsible of this crisis, will act decisively and will make efforts to ensure that the peoples of the two countries are not confronted.”

“Our Foreign Ministry sent a diplomatic note,” said Kurtulmuş and continued, “We have expressed our desire that we do not accept what they have done, condemn their attitudes, and apologize for it. We demanded for an initiate administrative and legal inquiries about the authorities that caused these events.”

"Diplomats coming to Turkiye for official visits will be prevented"

Kurtulmuş stated that the Dutch Ambassador was forbidden to return to Turkiye for a period of time and decided to ban the Dutch Ambassador abroad from returning to Turkiye as soon as the things we said were fulfilled. Turkiye has suspended senior talks until the Dutch has somehow compensated for what they had done. Visits of diplomats who come to Turkiye for official visits will be prevented. Turkiye will not allow diplomatic flights until the Netherlands compensate that they had done. It has been decided to recommend to the Turkish Grand National Assembly the abolition of the Turkish part of the friendship group between the Grand National Assembly and the Dutch parliament.”

“Turkiye protects its honor, but the greatest harm is seen in the Netherlands”

Kurtulmuş, said that Turkiye will not be harmed, said, “Turkiye will protect its own honor, but I would like to point out that many of the countries in Europe, especially the Netherlands, will see the greatest damage. Racism and fascism do not benefit to anybody.” (ILKHA)
